There is nothing more frustrating than a digital teacher with a great sound that you can't emulate because they don't tell you what their settings are. Of course that doesn't stop you from trying to match them but we punters should demand that all such lessons describe the settings. That isn't a problem here and elevates this guitar lesson above 90% of others at least from that aspect.
OK you are going to yourself my kid likes metal or I like metal but I don't know much at all about playing the guitar. Is this guitar lesson a good choice for me? I will go out on a limb here and say yes but only if you are getting a fat sound and have a similar electrified set up. With the set up Andy James is using he plays one note and sounds like Tommy Iommi whom I love and who uses an SG guitar! But if all you have available to you is an acoustic guitar then this isn't going to satisfy you or give you the encouragement you probably need to soldier on in this particular vein. You could I guess but...
Now I have all 6 of these lessons in the Learn Metal Rhythm in 6 weeks lesson set but haven't gotten to the other 5 yet. I have been playing guitar for quite some time and appreciate that metal rhythm is 90% downstrokes. Lots of fast downstrokes and requires skill and technique so you don't hurt yourself and sound good. You can hurt yourself and I don't mean your fingertips when you are first learning a few chords. If you do an hour a day at the metronome you are going to be hitting the strings thousands of times a week and can have wrist and finger problems. Acupuncture worked for me! As a consequence of an accident unrelated to guitar I hurt my thumb and this in turn blah blah ouch! I also do Chi Gong/Qi Gong exercises and cant recommend that enough for health and feelings of well being! You cant beat it and 5 years later I still do Chi Gong almost every day!!
